Since 2013 local community members were informed, through the Port Adelaide Environment Forum, about local risks arising from sea level rise and climate change.
The Forum was briefed and consulted in preparation of AdaptWest, the regional climate change adaptation plan, and that consultation highlighted the lack of State and local government funds to address current and emerging risks.
Peri Coleman of Delta Environmental Consulting, was invited to address the Forum in June 2015 on Living Shorelines, since Peri had recently undertaken a study tour with The Nature Conservancy in the USA, visiting Living Shorelines projects.
There are notes from Peri’s presentation and diagrams she developed.
Community members were interested in the potential for a Living Shoreline to save the failing seawall at the Mutton Cove Conservation Reserve and for shellfish to be restored to the Port River and aid shoreline protection.
