A group of volunteers involved with the Port River Shellfish Restoration Project went looking at possible trial sites, on Flinders Ports property, on Monday 31st October.
They were accompanied by Mark Hales of Flinders Ports.
Considerable numbers of what appeared to be live Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) were found on the south and west walls at Berths 17 and 18.

Peter Hunt from the SA Malacological Society also identified dead Pacific oysters and mussels on a navigation beacon, that had been removed from the water by Flinders Ports after being based at Birkenhead.
