The 2017 SA conference highlighted the risks of climate change to communities, the environment and infrastructure.
Delegates know that current global efforts to reduce emissions are inadequate, increasing the challenges of adaptation. Local and State government resources are inadequate to address current risks such as storms, flooding, erosion and heatwaves. While the Commonwealth and State Governments respond to these as one-off events, the need for adaptation measures remains unmet.
