Alan Noble, the founder of local not-for-profit AusOcean has developed Network Blue an underwater sensor network. Network Blue rigs will be deployed in the Port River in partnership with the Estuary Care Foundation.
The primary purpose of the deployments is to provide independent turbidity monitoring. Seagrass health will be monitored by means of video, in addition to other environmental conditions, such as air temperature and water temperature.
Agreement has been reached with Flinders Ports to deploy a rig in the Port River, at the northwestern end of Torrens Island. DPTI has given approval to deploy a rig in the Barker Inlet, at the northeastern end of Torrens Island.
