The Estuary Care Foundation has partnered with the University of Adelaide and Wavelength Consulting to bid for 2019 SA Disaster Resilience Grant Funding.

The project aims to improve the resilience and reduce risks associated with coastal flooding and erosion along the Port River; from St Kilda to Port Adelaide and Outer Harbour, combining the expertise of the University of Adelaide (UoA), with that of a coastal engineering company Wavelength. UNHaRMED (integrated risk modelling software developed by UoA) would be used to identify suitable areas for soft, hard or intermediate risk reduction measures.

Modelling of coastal erosion and flooding would be undertaken for the study area identifying the key risk areas for a range of sea-level-rise scenarios and developing soft, hard and intermediate measures to reduce the risks.  The resilience and costs of these measures would be assessed over time using UNHaRMED in conjunction with social and environmental values identified through community and stakeholder engagement.
