Port River area requires flood protection
April 13, 2021Estuary Care Foundation is participating in the upcoming History Festival, offering events exploring the Festival’s theme of ‘change’:
Port Oyster Tales & Bubbles at the British Hotel, Port Adelaide on Saturday, May 15th
Update: Port Oyster Tales & Bubbles also at Portobello Restaurant, New Port on Saturday May 29th
Hear tales of native oysters living in the Port River, being stored in the River to supply oyster saloons, being pilfered and banned, and now being restored to the River. Enjoy a glass of wine and compare the flavour of a Pacific and native oyster.
New Port Narratives, starting at Lartelare Reserve, New Port on Sunday, May 23rd
While New Port is relatively new (2007), its landscape continues to evoke memories of much earlier times. From Lartelare Reserve to Fletcher’s Slip and the Tidal Recorder Hut to Mangrove Cove. The walking tour will be followed by coffee and cake at Portobello Restaurant. If it’s wet or wild then the whole event will move to Portobello.
