Wonderful news for Port River restoration
December 2, 2023ECF is delighted to support the City of Port Adelaide Enfield’s plans for ‘Yitpi Yartapuultiku’, a new Aboriginal Cultural Destination to be built in the heart of Port Adelaide.
‘Since its inception, this ground-breaking project has been working to establish a unique cultural connection within our local community, while creating a destination where people from all backgrounds can share, learn, and experience our rich heritage’.
While ECF has sought to engage the community in a greater understanding and appreciation of the Port River and its ecology, Yitpi Yartapuultiku will enable our community and visitors to know more about Kaurna way of life, on, in and by the River, and how Kaurna care for this country.
Of particular interest to ECF, in the Design Concept, is SA’s first large scale Living Shoreline. The proposed Living Shoreline is an ecological response to safeguarding the site from erosion and sea level rise and will profile key elements of our local environment.
ECF has since its inception in 2016 championed Living Shorelines and undertaken small scale trials. ECF looks forward to seeing the beauty and functionality of a large scale Living Shoreline project in SA.
