Annual Report 2018-19
February 5, 2020The Foundation has secured a $20K Commonwealth grant, through the Communities Environment Program, to clean up industrial, maritime and household waste along the Port River in 2020.
The aim is to minimise the amount that goes to landfill and materials will be relocated or repurposed where possible.
The Commonwealth Government allocated $150K per electorate for on-ground environment works and our local Federal MP, Mark Butler, invited ECF to submit an application.
Waste to the north and south of Snowden’s boat ramp will be the priority areas for the Clean Up.

Old Penrice pipes slated for removal

Maritime material
Maritime Constructions will remove larger items, while ECF volunteers, together with Conservation Volunteers Australia volunteers and other interested people, will remove smaller items like wire and household bricks.
Both the Foundation and Maritime Constructions wish to repurpose as much of the material as possible.
Contact is being made with nearby sports and recreation clubs, and local arts organisations, for their input into how the materials might be used.
